The Story Behind The Pods

The magic of The Pods began with founder and CEO Alison Bateman, who launched the concept in 2017. Inspired by her own family’s journey, and by her son Roman’s diagnosis on the autistic spectrum, Alison wanted to create something meaningful: a world where everyone could thrive and express themselves freely.

Her mission started with a simple but powerful idea: to build a company that not only celebrates diversity but actively practices it. To bring her vision to life, Alison partnered with Patrick, a talented artist who was also diagnosed on the autistic spectrum as a child. Patrick’s ability to capture emotion and personality through expressive illustration became the heart of The Pods. Together, they crafted eight unique characters, each one representing different strengths, traits, and ways of seeing the world.

This collaboration laid the foundation for a creative team that celebrates difference, inclusion, and the magic of imagination, values that continue to define The Pods today.
